2018 TES Awards – Mead Primary

Following the rapid improvement from Requires Improvement to Good, Mead Primary implemented changes to their curriculum which were recognised by the TES in 2018. The school was shortlisted for Creative School of the Year, Employer of the Year and Headteacher of the Year (Mr Drakes).

Mead Farm Launch – Julia Lopez MP

Malcolm Drakes led the installation of a therapy farm at Mead Primary. Designed to support pupils with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) with the development of sensory and social skills. The school farm was also launched as a nurture provision to help pupils manage problem behaviour and stress with the long term aim of reducing temporary and permanent exclusions.

STAR Travel Plan Gold Award

Headteacher Malcolm Drakes introduced a scheme at Broadford Primary School where pupils reduced their carbon footprint, increased physical activity and created a sustainable travel plan to reduce the use of cars.
